Using acoustic methods like Resonance Analysis is more and more used for 100 % inline quality control in foundries. In mass production subjective quality assessment is not acceptable (too expensive, not reliable, not reproducible, cannot be documented and stressful for the workers). Acoustic resonance testing (ART) by exciting a specimen has it in itself to play a major role in the future. Applied to industrial needs this non-destructive technique is used for a fast and cost effective 100 % testing of a wide range of specimens.

RTE Akustik + Prüftechnik in Germany will present on the GIFA 2011, how acoustic testing works and why it is different to the well-established methods. Typical applications in foundries demonstrate the integration of the method into the production for testing high volumes, e. g. brake discs, callipers or steering racks. RTE will demonstrate the complete product range of mobile, laboratory and production integrated acoustic test systems. The Innovative test system SonicTC (see picture) allows fast testing of low volumes. Visitors can bring their own parts for an immediate quick look testing.
